CLIENT CASE STUDY

STATS UK Ltd, Aberdeen

STATS UK Ltd is a specialist Aberdeen design and engineering company which comes up with very clever solutions for all sorts of pipeline and piping problems encountered by oil and gas operators.

Formed nine years ago by Pete Duguid and Lorraine Porter the company are a bit of a PR nightmare because they shy away from publicity. The fact is, they consistently punch far above their weight, have such an excellent reputation within their industry and are so busy, that they don’t actually need PR to generate more business.

However, STATS do recognise that PR can be used effectively to raise awareness within their industry that they think and do things differently from their competitors. And when they have something to say they call in Sure PR.

For example, STATS was probably the first Aberdeen company to address the ongoing engineering skills shortage by travelling to Warsaw to assess, interview and appoint 12 highly skilled Polish recruits. The PR campaign resulted in widespread coverage including the Press & Journal, BBC Radio Scotland, the Sunday Times and key trade press across the world.

Months later STATS were still getting calls from journalists looking to find out more about their Polish experience – but politely refused interview requests because they were too busy. As I said, a bit of a PR nightmare – but in a nice way.
